15 Things You Didn’t Know About Tarantino’s Jackie Brown! (15 GIFS)
When Jackie Brown hit theaters in 1997, it had some big shoes to fill. Quentin Tarantino was coming fresh off Pulp Fiction, a film that reshaped modern cinema, so expectations were sky-high.
But instead of doubling down on hyper-stylized chaos, Tarantino delivered something unexpected – Jackie Brown, a slow-burn, character-driven crime thriller that oozes style, soul, and swagger.
The film follows Pam Grier’s Jackie, a flight attendant caught between the Feds and a gun-smuggler, Ordell Robbie(Samuel L. Jackson). What unfolds is a masterclass in cool, with Robert De Niro (who completely departs from his usual powerful, loud, and stern characters to one a little dumber than usual), Bridget Fonda, and Robert Forster rounding out a cast dripping in charisma. Especially the eyes Forster throws at Grier throughout, I mean, can you blame him? It’s nice to see some romance and quiet moments in a Tarantino flick for once.
Though Jackie Brown often gets overshadowed by Tarantino’s flashier films, it remains one of his most mature and well-crafted works. And like any great Tarantino flick, it’s packed with hidden details, behind-the-scenes stories, and trivia gems that make it even richer.
Here are 15 you-outta-know facts about Jackie Brown that make the film even cooler. Hat Tip to IMDb’s Trivia Page. I probably spend too much time there.
